A Taste of Tradition in York
Nestled next door to the University of York, The Deramore Arms is a beloved bar and restaurant known for its inviting atmosphere and rich history. We pride ourselves on offering a wide selection of locally sourced dishes and frosty pints.
The Deramore Arms has a long history, dating back to the early 1800s. Previously called The Ship in 1823, than became The Fox by 1840 and The Yarburgh Arms by 1872. Come 1967, it was renamed The Deramore Arms.
During World War II, it was a popular spot for RAF Bomber Command personnel stationed nearby. They even held races between The Deramore and The Charles on top of a stuffed rhinoceros.When the University of York opened in 1963, the pub became a favorite hangout for students, especially athletes. Today, it continues to be a beloved local pub with a rich history.
